DINING
Prague Restaurants
Prague is becoming a center for fine dining in Europe as many Czech and international chefs have started showing their talents in Prague restaurants. Many new restaurants open every month and you now can sample world cuisine while in Prague.
Czech Food
Czech food has a bad rap. Words like “bland”, “fettering” or “heavy” are some time typical descriptions and according to most guidebooks, vegetarians who set foot in the country will promptly starve. In reality, however, Czech food is the perfect comfort fare; velvety sauces, rich meat dishes, spongy dumplings, and scrumptious baked goods - this is food that feeds the soul, if not exactly the plate.
The Czech Republic is a nation on the move, so it stands to reason that the traditional is being replaced by the trendy and that goes for food, too. Czech cooking and eating habits are in chining towards the healthy end of the spectrum, which means that vegetarians should not get their broccoli in a bunch. Simply put, a taste here and there and there is not going to kill you; and foodies and the adventurous-of–taste-bud will eat well in their adopted homeland.
Above all, before you tuck into the dumplings or a burger and fries, never forget to say “Dobrou chut” or “Hope it tastes good!” Big chances are it will.
